href=https:\/\/www.fantastic-removals.co.uk\/moving-boxes-delivery\/>Get as much as possible packing materials<\/a>: all box sizes, packing tape, bubble wrap, stretch wrap, blankets, packing paper, etc.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Do not overpack! Boxes shouldn\u2019t exceed the limit of 25-30 pounds. This is especially important when packing books inside cardboard boxes or other heavy items. It\u2019s not just bad for the box, but it\u2019s going to be hard on your back as well.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Fill empty gaps in the boxes using old newspapers, packing papers, or just old rags. This will keep them from clattering around.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Always label the boxes. This way you can know what is where. To start packing, you need packing paper or cloth towels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re looking to save money on packing materials, you can even use your own dishes and towels to pack your plates. This way you\u2019re saving on packing paper and on several boxes as you\u2019ll be putting two things together.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-red-check\">\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Layer the bottom of the box with several layers of paper or towels.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Take a single piece of packing paper, preferably something big and place it on the table.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Put down the first plate. Wrap and add the next plate on top of the packed one. Layer with paper and continue this process until the plates finish. <\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Fold the edges around the plate, until you have a wrapped piece, like a present.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Put them in the box vertically. When packing into the box, the plates should be on their sides. This is to avoid breakage. Repeat until you fill the box.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Fill the gaps with paper or anything you can find.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Close and label the box.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>If you happen to get really big sheets of paper, you can try using one sheet on two plates. This will both save you materials and provide some extra protection.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Glasses should be individually wrapped and also placed vertically inside the box. Fill in the gaps as well. <\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Place heavier and larger items at the bottom of the box. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tricky thing is to wrap wine glasses &#8211; first wrap a piece of paper around the stem of the glass, then fill the inside with another piece of paper and then wrap it in another piece of paper just like the rest of your glasses and mugs. For this, you need extra tall boxes. Lamp sizes are different, so you might have to measure to make sure this is the box for you.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-red-check\">\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>First and foremost, disassemble the lamps as much as you can and keep their parts together.\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i> Remove everything that can be removed \u2013 the bulb, the shade, the cords.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Reinforce the bottom of the box with packing tape.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Do not be shy with the tape, and make the bottom as firm as possible.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Place a soft cloth on the bottom of the empty box.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Wrap the base of the lamp with bubble wrap.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Roll the bubble wrap around the sides and secure with tape. This will keep the glass from shifting from the frame and avoid breakage.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Place a soft cloth on the bottom of the box. Ask your moving company about special boxes for mirrors\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>and paintings, some companies offer such options. <\/li>\n<p>Wrap pieces in packing paper or bubble wrap.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Fill the gaps, use packing paper or other unneeded clothes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\n\n<div class=\"row attention-note\" style=\"border-color: #404040\">\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"note-img-holder\" class=\"col-xs-4 col-xs-offset-4 col-md-1 col-md-offset-0 text-center\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<span style=\"background: url(..\/wp-content\/themes\/fantastic-removals\/images\/note-icons\/tip.png) 0 0 no-repeat\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-11\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p> Do not mix plates and picture frames in one box. It will only make labelling more confusing and make your unpacking lengthier.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_pack_irregularly_shaped_items\"><\/span>How to pack irregularly shaped items<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With irregularly shaped objects, for example, an abstract statue, it\u2019s important to designate the most vulnerable parts, and start from there.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-red-check\">\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Use the bubble wrap.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Just like we did with the fragile lamp, you need to make sure every part of your sculpture is covered with at least two layers of bubble wrap. Secure it well with packing tape.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Make your own box.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Here, we need to be creative, just like the artist who made that irregularly shaped figure. Place your sculpture on a piece of cardboard. Place another piece of cardboard on top and have more cardboard pieces waiting just in case. Bend the cardboard enough to cover all of your sculpture and wrap it very tightly in packing tape.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Label the new box, FRAGILE.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>Or simply use open crates to transport your packed irregularly shaped objects.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"icon-check\"><\/i>To pack electronics, using their original boxes is the safest method. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Boxes_Labelling_tips\"><\/span>Boxes Labelling tips<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Label boxes with the room they belong to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write \u201cThis side up\u201d and an arrow to point to which side of the box should be facing up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have the time, you can also try and write down some of the contents of the box on it so you can easily find what you need when it\u2019s time to unpack.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can use a colouring system to separate the boxes based on the room they&#8217;re are for.
